Practicing: Students are expected to practice the same amount of time daily as the length of their lesson at least 4 days a week (other than the day of the lesson). Consistent daily practice is essential in order for students to make progress.
Lessons are September through June based on the Montgomery County school calendar. If your lesson falls on a holiday, we will reschedule for another day that week.
I also teach in the summer for those who would like additional lessons. These can be scheduled for as many or as few lessons as you'd like.
Cancellations require 48 hours notice except for illness or emergencies. I will try to reschedule for a mutually convenient time that week. If it's less than 48 hours, I cannot refund your payment or make up the lesson.
I do not automatically cancel lessons due to weather even if schools are closed. I may reschedule if weather is an issue. Please contact me and we will make arrangements on a case by case basis.
I hold two student recitals each year, one in January and one in June. Participation in the recitals is required. Students benefit greatly from the opportunity to perform publicly before their peers and family. Each recital is followed by a pot-luck reception where families can meet and congratulate one another. I hire a professional pianist for each recital, which includes one rehearsal and the performance. The rehearsal and recital is held at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 9100 Colesville Rd. in Silver Spring.
